Footings or lack of footings

The erosion from the water coming from under the house revealed insufficient footings. The footings are supposed to go 12 inches below grade with a minimum of 6 inches exposed. In this photo the edge of the slab is no more than 10 inches. The minimum would be 18. Some places reveal only 7 inches thickness.

Now I had the inspector verify the footings and we found organic materials under the footings. The soil under the foundation was not adequate for supporting a house, even if it had proper footings. Click here for the soils/fill material page.
