My faulty septic system was the first problem I experienced.
I am omitting many details and letters to the builder to avoid identifying the builder and also to avoid a possible slander suite. I first contacted my builder at the end of 2001 (10 months after my purchase) because of the smell of raw sewage after heavy rains. The problem continued unresolved. In July 2003, I had  regular sewage stream that had been running non-stop for 11 months. Here it is. This Stream and puddles were present from September 2002 to late July 2003. During the dry months it goes away.
 

At this time in July 2003 I noticed water coming out from under my slab. This was even a few days after a rain.

Here is another photo of the backyard from early March 2004. This was dried up by the end of march due to lack of rain.

 

Now my septic system and tank is very close to the back of the house where the water was coming out from under the foundation. So my intuition says that this water must be backfilling my septic system. At this point I questioned the existence of a foundation drain. Click here for the foundation drain page.
